Mechanism Of Action Of Lubricant Eye Drops
- Lubricant Eye Drops moisturize the eye by multiple mechanisms including a lubricating action and replacement of certain missing tear constituents.

- This medication is used to relieve dry, irritated eyes
- Common causes for dry eyes include wind, sun, heating/air conditioning, computer use/reading, and certain medications.
- It may also be used to treat dry eye caused by the use of contact lenses.
- Eye preparation are usually sterile, so ensure that the container is not damaged before use and also replace the cap after taking your dose (In case of using a single-use dose unit, throw the used unit away after using them)
- Tilt your head back a little and look up.
- pull your lower eyelid down
- With the other hand, hold the eye drop bottle upside down near to your eye. Try not to touch your eye as you do this.
- Apply enough pressure to release one drop (or vial contents) into your eye.
- Ensure that the medication entered your eye
- Close your eye for a minute or two, and press gently on the side of your nose, this prevents the loss of your eye drops and keeps the drug where it should be.
- Recommended dose is 1 or 2 drops (or vials) in the affected eye(s) as needed.
- Higher dose may be prescribed in cases of severe dryness
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure about how to use this medication
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
