Amlodipine contains the active ingredient amlodipine, which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium blockers. The medicine does not provide immediate relief of chest pain from angina .

The dose can be increased to 10 mg Amlodipine once a day. The medicine can be taken before or after food and drink. You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a glass of water. Do not take Amlodipine with grapefruit juice. Use of Amlodipine in children and adolescents For children and adolescents (6-17 years): The usual recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg daily. The maximum recommended dose is 5 mg daily. It is important to take the tablets without interruption. Do not wait to see your doctor until you have run out of tablets. If you take too much Amlodipine: Contact a doctor, hospital or Poison Information. If you have taken too much medicine or if a child has taken medicine by accident. For other questions about the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Taking too many tablets can cause your blood pressure to become low and even dangerously low. You may feel dizzy, light-headed, weak or weak. If the drop in blood pressure is severe enough, shock can occur. Your skin may feel cold and clammy and you may lose consciousness.
