Do not use Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25:

if you think hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is starting. Further in this leaflet it tells you how to deal with mild hypoglycemia

if you are allergic to Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

• trouble with your kidneys or liver.
• heart disease or previous stroke. 
• signs of heart failure such as unusual shortness of breath or rapid increase in weight or localized swelling.

Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 can cause serious side effects. These side effects happen only to a small number of people and include:

• low blood sugar 
• severe allergic reaction 
• low potassium in your blood (hypokalemia)
• heart failure

Especially if you take medicines for: birth control, pain, hormonal replacement, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, depression, auto-immune diseases and infection.

How to use Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25:

• Take Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to.
• Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 starts acting fast. Inject Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 within 15 minutes before you eat a meal.
• Check your insulin label each time you give your injection to make sure you are taking the correct insulin.
• Inject Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 under the skin (subcutaneously) of your stomach area (abdomen), buttocks, upper legs or upper arms. Do not inject Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 into your vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly) or use in an insulin infusion pump.
• Change (rotate) your injection sites within the area you choose with each dose to reduce your risk of getting lipodystrophy (pits in skin or thickened skin) and localized cutaneous amyloidosis (skin with lumps) at the injection sites.

How to store Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25:

• Before the first use store your Insulin Lispro/Insulin Lispro protamine 25 in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Do not freeze.
• Keep your cartridge in use at room temperature (below 30°C) and discard after 28 days. Do not put it near heat or in the sun. Do not keep your pen or the cartridges you are using in the fridge. The pen with the inserted cartridge should not be stored with the needle attached.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
• Do not use this medicine if you notice it is colored or it has solid pieces in it. You must use it only if it looks like water. Check this each time you inject yourself.
• Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
